Christmas 2009

Good Christmas I would say. The down side was that not everyone was able to make it home. Still we had a wonderful time. I had to work late at the shelter but then went straight to my folks figuring it would be easier to sleep over there, than wake up and get my butt over to the house at 6 in the morning.

Some members in my family have never lost an ounce of the Christmas spirit, either that or they're desperately trying to hold onto their childhood, cause they make us get up at 6 am. Tamsen came to the door and woke Hay and me up. I believe her words were something like "It is Christmas morning I say!"

I cleaned up like a bandit. Mother clearly lost rack of how much money she had spent on me. I got my new larger diamond earrings, my birdcage with a "Caring for Finches" book and a gift card to use to buy an actual bird. I might just start with one this time around and see if i can't keep it alive. I also got a criminology book from dad, and the third season of 30 rock. On top of that she also nabbed me a GC for a pedicure, my favorite restaurant and a copy of ready made!!

Audrey totally came thru with three framed bird photos for my room. I'm going to hang them in my room in the bird corner next to my cage. It's gonna look so cool!

We did well on the gifts for the folks as well. Mom loved the couch cover, movies, slippers and Dad made her put on her new pajamas. I commented to mom that all of her gifts either indicate we think she's a real homebody, or we, as her family are clearly conditioning her to never leave the house.

Dad liked his new weird headphones. They amplify your hearing. We all put them on and took turns listening to each other chew.

I promptly fell back asleep until lunch-which is pretty normal. Even as I type this I'm contemplating another nap. Only time will tell.

Of course this wouldn't be a true Christmas posting if I didn't type of Christ. Although Christ was born in the Spring we celebrate his birth in the dead of winter. It also most seems symbolic of the state of the world before his arrival, and the eventual change he would elicit through his life and ministry. I was just barely asked by a friend at work about the differences in the LDS church from other Christian churches. I told her that our belief in Christ is similar to others. We believe he is the son of God and the Savior of all mankind. He came to this earth not onl to save us but to also serve as an example of what we too should be. By providing that example he showed all men what their lives should be. We should love one another, serve with all our hearts, and work to be the best that we can be. I told my co-worker that one big sifference with our church was that after Christ was killed, and his apostles hunted down and martyred, we believe that the Power of God was taken from the earth, and a couple thousand years later, when the conditions were right, God returned His power and authority back, thru the Prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph being a man like unto Christ himself, but also a fallible man, but a man who strived to be worthy of his calling in life. We as disciples follow the same call, to be like Christ.

I'm thankful this Holiday season for the truths I've always had in my life and for the knowledge that as I Child of God I have inherent love from my Father above.

My favorite part of your Christmas was the headphone part.

Why in the world would amplify the chewing sound? That's one thing I know you hate!

Their electronic earphones that amplify sound. Dad wanted them for shooting. They block the loud gunfire noise, but still allow you to talk to your neighbor. We just happened to all be eating stocking candy when we were trying them on.

I'm glad you like the bird pictures! I thought they were pretty cool when I found them on etsy.
