Go Ahead and Plan!

My last post reminded me of a lesson I taught on marriage in RS once. It was from the teachings of Spencer W. Kimball and it said:

"Every person should want and plan to be married because that
is what God in heaven planned for us. That is the way he worked
it out."

When I taught the lesson I made a point of this quote because I think it illustrates a prevalent viewpoint in L.D.S. women who are older. It's easy as you grow older and are not yet married to become ambivalent about marriage. By making a point to not care about your single status it can become easier in the long run. I don't know if anyone sees this the way I do, but in a marriage focused culture like the L.D.S. church its hard to forget your not married, and its doubly hard to not beat yourself up about it. For me its really easy to become self-critical and question all past relationships wondering if I made a mistake somewhere.

Unfortunately I think this decision to "not care"can eventually leads to ambivalence about who you decide to marry or where you decide to get married as well. And decisions along those lines mean you end up sacrificing eternal marriage for just marriage.

So I think it is important to plan to get married. It's the Lord's plan for us so we need to have faith that it can happen.

And in the spirit of "planning" I submit the following for your perusal:
(clearly any couture dress will need modesty alterations)

This is a "love IT, but hate the hat."

Still torn on the sweetheart neckline

Very "Princess Grace"
So sweet and feminine
Not sure how this would look on
"I'm on a boat!" - Classic

Love the top!

I like this post. I just did a temple marriage lesson with my young women and it is very important to not settle for a civil marriage just because you are unsure if a chance at temple marriage is in your future. Easier said than done, just think of yourself as a celebrity and you aren't due to get married and have kids for another 5-10 years!
