My life plus death

SPOILER ALERT!

If you are planning on seeing the movie "ONE DAY" with Anne Hathaway please read no further.

"One Day" is a film that follows the life of two individuals over a span of about 23 years, showing only the events that happen on July 15th of each year. And basically the film is just awful.

If you've seen it you may think "aren't you being a little hard on the film?"

You may be right and I will concede but please first understand my perspective. In the film we see Anne as a sweet, charming, intelligent, and funny girl who has just finished college excited to take on the world. She meets a handsome guy graduation night and it sparks a friendship that lasts the rest of their lives. They flirt back and forth over time but ultimately keep it platonic and become an enduring force of friendship to be reckoned with. Anne maintains romantic feelings the entire friendship but never pursues the guy (Dex) because Dex's romantic advances are never serious and she works really hard to maintain boundaries and self-respect. Well Dex goes on to become a TV personality, a coke head, a boozer, a deadbeat and eventually a dad and a divorcee. Anne holds his hand through each misadventure, supporting him and loving him despite his constant need. What does she get from him? hmmmmmm good question. In the film someone makes a comment that Dex always made her happy......but I don't know about that.

She spends her life being the best friend a person could have until one day. One magical day he realizes he's been a cad all these years and now he wants her. So she marries him and they seems so happy.

Then she gets hit by a semi on her bike and dies.

And he feels really sad.

Worst movie ever. I'm a woman, I'm a good friend, and sometimes I'm the girl-friend instead of the girlfriend and I would like to believe that if I put up with some guys crap for a million years I wouldn't get hit by a vagga-bus the minute I finally get the guy. nuff said!
