The guys at work think I'm a huge music fan. Probably because any chance I get I've got headphones on, and am singing along. I do love music but I don't listen at work because of that.
I listen to music so I can't hear the guys at work talking.
1.Getting "screwed" outta money
2.Fishing
3.Drinking Whiskey
Those are their top three items of conversation. They don't actually talk "To Me" about these topics. I seriously doubt I could contribute in any way and they know it. But having to listen to them talk to other people, while I try to work is the worst.
So I listen to music.
I've trained myself to catch my name if said, over the music. That way if they need me, I don't just appear to be ignoring their ever important needs of (Insert remedial computer function here). Today though I didn't hear John. I was rocking out to a new album I had itunes purchased and didn't realize until he was out of his office, coming at me like a ticked off rhinosaur "Freyja!!" at the top his lungs, red faced and angry.
I tried not to laugh. But I'm not so great at that.
Needless to say I provided some sort of remedial computer function and put my headphones back on.

i still don't know exactly what you do, but it sounds very boring. the fact that you can listen to headphones during it says it doesn't involve too much social skill.
