Revelling in the confidence of four new tires.

Thanks to the good samaritan who pulled along side me at a red light on Terwilliger and 3rd to left me know my back driver side tire was completly flat.

I pulled over at the next gas station and discovered he wasn't lying. I went to Les Schwab and got 4 brand new tires, the spendiest they had.

In unrelated news I had two clients ousted from the shelter I work at. Although I understand their departure, I'm saddened that they have had their children taken from them and will now be in foster care. One of the girls was especially difficult, and although we argued often and she called me a racist basically everyday I'll miss the times we had together.

Some of which included driving thru Portland. She was a keen observer of people, often pointing out who was fat, who was ugly, and my favorite who was gay. I encouraged her to write a book on how to spot gay people, hoping it would awaken her to the fact that she was being ridiculous. It didn't though. She thought I was being serious and called me racist.

She would talk and talk about a certain singer she loved, and I would pretend that I listened to his music. One time I commented "He's a handsome guy." to which she replied "Don't you be talkin' 'bout my husband like that." followed by the stink eye.

My favorite was the time she spotted her dad on the sidewalk and begged me to pull over. I maneuvered traffic and pulled up along the curb and she jumped out to run to her dad." The man looked awfully young and I grew concerned he was really an old lover, or drug dealer. I watched in earnest. No sooner had she said hi than this man loudly exclaimed "Tasheena** Why are you gettin' so plump!" I looked him up when we got back. Turns out this father of nine, former exotic dancer truly was her dad. If it hadn't been for the tri-met official coming our way I might of met him myself.
I'll miss her and hope for the best.
