Honeymoons over!

Well I  should've known it would come to this. My finch, Marlon Brando, has turned on his cage-mate Billy. What I interpreted to be a friendly game of flight and flutter was infact finch cage fighting. Well the cage fights have gone too far! Yesterday Billy started limping, and today when I got home he had stopped using his right leg entirely. He was just hobbling around like a pirate, nibbling on seed.

Reminds of a client I was assessing once for Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I was asking a series of questions one of which was:
Have you ever intentionally hurt someone by using physical force? Their response was "Yep, all the time, like every time someone pisses me off."
I then followed that question with:
Have you ever intentionally hurt an animal? The response to this question was just a look of pure horror. It was almost as if they had said "Hurt an animal?!? What do you think I am? A monster? I WOULD NEVER!"

Which of course is wildly funny to me.(not hurting animals the other thing)

Anyhow. I captured Marlon and put him in isolation in a smaller cage with just food, water, and a single branch to cling too. I'm guessing he's going to have to stay there until he can find some way to earn back my trust. When Billy starts to feel better, or at least starts limping again I might get him a girl. One that likes those sensitive, misunderstood types.

You're like the Michael Vick of finches. I hope you can live with yourself.

im not a serial killer or anythinf but i can see your clients point. i would totally hurt a person before an animal. people are jerks and do terrible things. they manipulate and hurt others and are destructive and petty. animals are just getting by trying to survive on insticts. so they might not be as intelligent, but they are alot simpler and more innocent. or i can see how it seems that way. except for marlon brando. he seems like a jerk :)

do all therapists psycho-analyze their pets. Maybe Billy started it...
