My friend backed into my car. He scrapped off some paint on the bumper, thankfully not doing any body damaged. It's not unsightly by any means but it's starting to bother me. and I'm not sure what to do.
He has left it up to me, but it seems a tricky situation considering we're friends. Do I get an estimate and take his money or just shrug it off. If I had done it to my own car there's no way I would fork out the $500 deductible, but since it wasn't my fault why not get it fixed?
Here's sort of the funny part. Not to call his integrity into question......sorry......but he hit my car after leaving my house, but didn't call me til about 20 minutes later. He hadn't realized it was my car at first and drove off without leaving a note. Then when he called he asked "Do you own a protege?
It's just a little sketchy..hmmmmmmm

I'd get an estimate and then talk to him about it. He should be responsible for paying for it -if you don't get it taken care of your paint will peel and the body will rust. Just because you're friends doesn't mean he shouldn't have to face up to hitting your car.
I say friendship be damned! He better pay for it. The end.
