the children are brain-damaged

At work we have a plethora of farm-type animals. We use them to help teach responsibility. The kiddos have to feed them and care for their cages and fences and all that jazz.

One of our home-managers noticed that one of our silkies (sp?) had a broken leg yesterday. Instead of a normal looking gross chicken foot, the bird had a black leg that bent at an odd angle and prevented it from walking normal. It was pretty sad.

This is what the crazy bird looks like
So he quizzed the boys who care for the chickens about what happened and one of the boys reluctantly admitted that he had been throwing brick-sized rocks at the bird and one had hit and broken the bird.

The bird now has to be "put down" and the boy has been consequenced.

This is a lame story right? Poor bird? Stupid kid?

All I know is that things like this crack me up!?! Why is someone throwing huge rocks at a cute little bird? When you hit a bird and almost kill it...what kind of person pretends like it didn't happen and walks away instead of helping the poor animal. Why would you think that if we find a bird with a broken leg swollen and gangrenous we won't ask around and find out who did it?

If you did all this why would you even act surprised when you get in trouble and have to wear bright orange from head to toe in order to indicate that you can't be trusted out of our sight.

I generally say "boys will be boys" when it comes to alot of things that go down at work. I also don't make a big deal about things that don't really matter and I didn't even make that bog a deal about the broken chicken leg......but seriously!

Teenagers are brain-damaged.

Some people don't think more than 5 minutes into the future. It looks like this is one of them.

I'm going to have to go with brain-damaged. There is no other explanation! Miss you.
